Finnish Dance Sport Federation monitors the development of the corona virus situation together with the Finnish Olympic Committee and the entire sport community. The corona virus situation has changed and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) has updated its instructions on March 4th, 2020. Epidemic areas are defined as those where more extensiven new window). chains of infection are being seen. Currently, the epidemic area covers mainland China, Iran, South Korea and Italy. Following link opens on another site: According to THL the virus spreads from person to person through droplet transmission.  How efficiently the virus spreads and the period of infectiousness are not yet well known. The patients’ symptoms include fever, coughing and shortness of breath. Coronavirus infections can be prevented with good hand and coughing hygiene. Finnish Dance Sport Federation underlines the meaning of a proper hand and coughing hygiene in all contacts. This will protect against all virus infections, including a normal seasonal influenza. Athletes, representatives of clubs, adjudicators and other officials are recommended to avoid hand shaking during events. The Finnish Dance Sport Federation recommends each athlete to have their own water bottle and towel and not to share water bottles or towels. Competition organisers should make sure of the sufficiency of hand towels and hand disinfection bottles on site.

The Finnish Dance Sport Federation operates according to these instructions. Finnish Dance Sport Federation follows the possible instructions and guidelines by the authorities, Finnish Olympic Committee and the World Dance Sport Federation regarding public events.

Those been in the epidemic area during the past 14 days are required to take special care of their hand and coughing hygiene and recognizing possible symptoms. It is forbidden to go to competitions or practises when feeling ill! In case of experiencing symptoms of acute respiratory infection, such as fever, cough or shortness of breath, always first contact by phone your health centre or the information number provided in your travel insurance information. You will receive instructions on how to seek treatment.
